Featured grass! Carex divulsa (tumulicola) ‘Berkeley Sedge’
This clumping, evergreen, Berkeley sedge is one of the best for creating lush meadowlike effects. It can reach 18 to 24 inches tall and wide, although it usually forms a clump 8 to 12 inches tall. It’s dark green leaves arch out gracefully from the clump. The spring-blooming flowers are brownish that hold on to long, wiry floppy stems. The Berkeley sedge makes an attractive groundcover for large areas and is good for creating evergreen meadows. It is also useful as a single speciman or in small groupings in shade plantings.
